Privacy policy
Effective October 13, 2026
Nexla is based in Calgary, Alberta. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This policy explains what we collect through www.nexla.ca, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
When you use the "Let's find your starting point" form, we collect:
- your name, work email and, if you provide them, your company and notes about what is getting in the way
- the starting point you choose (Discovery, Roadmap, Project management or Not sure yet)
- technical details sent by your browser: your IP address and browser type (user agent), and the date and time of the request
If you email or call us, we collect the information you choose to share. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell personal information.
Why we collect it
- to reply to your request and arrange a meeting
- to provide the services you ask for and keep a record of our conversations
- to protect the website and our systems from spam, abuse and security threats (this is what the IP address and browser details are used for)
We only use your information for these purposes, or as required or allowed by law. If we want to use it for anything else, such as a newsletter, we will ask for your consent first.
Your consent
By submitting the form or contacting us, you consent to us collecting and using your information as described here. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. If you do, we will stop using your information and delete it unless we are required by law to keep it.
Service providers and storage outside Canada
We use trusted service providers to run the website and handle your request. They process information only on our behalf and under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Vercel hosts the website and processes requests to it
- Supabase stores form submissions in a secure database
- Resend sends us an email notification when you submit the form
- Microsoft 365 provides our email
Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. You can contact us with any questions about how our service providers handle your information.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete them, unless you become a client or we are required by law to keep them longer.
How we protect it
The website is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Form submissions are stored in a database that is not publicly accessible, and access is limited to the people who need it to respond to you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will respond within 45 days, as PIPA requires.
Contact us
For questions, requests or concerns about your privacy, contact our privacy contact at info@nexla.ca or 403-352-0148.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
